1. 2 real and different roots
1.   x = -4 or x = 2
2. (x=4)(x-2) = 0
1. y = A(x+4)(x-2)
2. in y-intercept = -3, x = 0
1. -3 = A(0+4)(0-2)
1. -3 = -8A
1. A = 3/8
2. Therefore, y = 3/8 (x+4)(x-2)

y= x^2 +x -2
hence, solve x^2 +x = 7.
x^2 +x-2 = 5
y = 5

y = x^2 =x -2  ----- (1)
y=5 ------ (2)
x^2+x-2=5
x^2 +x = 7
